Ah yes...it's almost midnight and I'm still awake. I never sleep well when Cody is at work, so here I sit in the wee hours. I've been working a little on the Trip I plan each year for my friends from High School. It's always a nice little escape for me to sit down and plan fun things we're going to do! This year we're all going to a Spa which will be so nice - not to mention lots of shopping and lots of eating...I simply can't wait.

Tomorrow should be a good day - I'm hoping to see some friends over dinner tomorrow night, that will be so much fun. As you can see, not much to post - but hopefully this will be a nice little snack for those who are awake like me!

House Projects...

Have you ever just felt overwhelmed? I feel like I have SO many things to do and just not enough time to do it. Not only that, I have no energy. That's the main thing I'm battling during this pregnancy. There are so many things I need to get done! Most of them are out of my hands, like replacing the floor in our Living Room or finishing our bedroom furniture. I have rooms to paint and things to clean. Not to mention the fact that I can't wait to plant my garden and buy a hanging plant for the porch. It's February...I need to relax. I just can't seem to get everything done and it's starting to get to me. We have a lot of projects for the house this Summer. We are hoping to put in a deck out back so we can eat dinner outside. We have more landscaping to do and more cement to pour. There are also a lot of things to do inside before the baby comes. I try to have something baked (cookies, pie) in the house at all times...sure haven't done that in a while. Ugh. So here I sit, blogging when I should be finishing up the laundry and starting the dishwasher. I wish I could be one of those housewives who is happy in her cleaning and has time to chat with neighbors over the fence. Has all the ironing done and never has to reapply her lipstick. It's not realistic, and honestly? I would just rather take a nap.

Dreaming of Summer

We have had gorgeous weather all weekend. It's been so nice and warm, I was able to open the windows in my house and spend time outside in the sun...so imagine my saddness when I awoke to 3" of snow this morning! Rarr. I'm feeling rather under the weather, as they say. To cheer myself up (or depress myself more?), I decided to post some pictures from a trip I took last year. Kate and I surprised Rhonda for her Birthday and took her to a resort in Mexico for the weekend. It was sheer Heaven! We were right on the beach and we spent all day lounging in the Sun. I need to go back soon...and I will take all of you with me. Anyone else need a tropical getaway?

Ahhh, man. I would give anything to smell like coconut suntan lotion and lie in the Sun...

5 things...

My friend Kate has given me a challenge - post 5 things about myself that no one knows. See, the funny thing is, Kate and I have known each other since Junior High. We have enough dirt that we could blackmail each other until the day we die. However! I shall accept this challenge and try and hard as I can to think of 5 things most of you may not know. I'm pretty sure that after I post this I'll think of certain things I could have written about, but for the time being - here's what I came up with.

1. I have a high heel obsession.

There is no way to tell how much I spend on heels each year. I own maybe...3 pairs of sneakers? Maybe? I have a pair of flats. The rest of the shoes in my closet have a 3-inch heel attached. That's the other thing, I rarely wear anything under 3 inches. It's totally impractical and I really should slow down, but I can't help myself! Heels heels heels.

2. I listen to Christmas music all year long.
Christmas is probably my other favorite Holiday (see #5). I LOVE Christmas. But my favorite thing about Christmas is the music. Holiday tunes put me in the best mood in the shortest amount of time. I don't know if it's the bells or what, but if I listen to Christmas music I'm the happiest girl in the world. The 40's versions of Christmas classics tend to be my favorite and I sing them all the time. I listen to them while I clean my house, run errands, whenever. I also love a good Christmas movie - 1953's White Christmas is one of my Favorites...

3. I want 'Marilyn' hair.
For YEARS I have been wanting to chop my hair off (to my jaw), totally bleach it out and have the glam Marilyn Monroe hair. I don't have the guts to do it, but I have this secret longing. Maybe one day...
4. I hate peppermint.
EW. I hate it. It's so nasty, it's too....yuck, I just can't do it. Even the smell of it makes me sick. I have yet to meet another person who has the same level of loathing for a peppermint stick, but I'm not ashamed!

5. I. LOVE. HALLOWEEN.
Ok, no big surprise here. But perhaps most of you don't know that I generally know what costume I'm going to wear by December or January. Not to mention I start looking for Halloween stuff in the Spring. For example, I just got an email about new Halloween Village pieces for the year 2007 and I'm thinking about ordering a few. It's not just me, my Mom and my Sister are equally obsessed. My sister and I both throw Halloween parties each year. We talk about our invitations and get them finalized...sometime in July. It's so sad! I can't help it! I just love that Holiday more than words can express and there's no cure - I shall love it forever. Oh, did I mention I start decorating in the middle of September? Boo!

Ok, there you go! Maybe if you get me liquored up you can find things out that I really don't want you to know (Oh, that's another one - I've never had a drink in my life).

Staying In...

Since we were out all day on Valentines, we decided to spent the evening in. I'm not sure what it is about Holidays, but I generally get a little crazy in the baking department. Here are some cupcakes and a yummy chocolate cake I made for Cody.

We had a delicious Turkey Breast for dinner (yes, I am wearing an apron - so Donna Reed)

For dessert we tried out the Chocolate Fountain Cody bought me for Christmas. As it turns out, I can eat my weight's worth in chocolate-covered strawberries. It was sooo yummy! We finished off with some bubbly and settled in to catch up on some of our favorite shows. Ahhh, it was such a great day! Although, I think next time we bust out the Chocolate Fountain we should have some friends over...I'm a little embarrassed by how much I consumed in one evening. Cheers to Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Love is in the air...

I just wanted to post a quick love letter before Cody and I head out for the day. This is the first time in the 6 years that I have known him that he hasn't had to work on Valentines Day! We got a sitter for the afternoon - we're going to lunch and then to see "Music and Lyrics". I'm so excited! I also think Cody is going to let me have a really big lunch...that's the best gift of all. Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Baby Ruby

Ok, so we don't know if it's a girl or not. Cody, Cache and I went to the Dr. this morning to have an Ultrasound. Look at that little thing! I'm 11 weeks along and my due date is September 2nd - just two days before my Dad's Birthday and one week before my Birthday. For the most part I've been feeling great, although there are times at night when I feel a little sicky. Cody is also helping me eat healthier during this pregnancy which is so hard! He keeps suggesting really yummy, healthy meals...but all I want is a deep fried toquito, onion rings or a #4 from Burger Supreme.

Blue Suede Shoes!

I had fabulous luck shopping with my Mom yesterday. We got to spend the whole day together! Lunching, shopping, chatting - we had a great time. A successful trip was had by all! Tayva got three pairs of gorgeous shoes and I was able to take home these baby blue gems. Aren't they dreamy? Looks like I'll have to throw party to showcase them...
