It's been MONTHS since I have showcased something awesome on WILW. Aren't you curious? Aren't you dying to know what I am loving this week? Thought so. What am I loving?
The classics.
(sigh of disappointment...) Truly! We all know that I played the cello in High School and I have always enjoyed classical music, but lately I have rediscovered my love for it. And not just string symphonies, but Opera has crept up and made me adore it. It can be so beautiful. Go listen to a smidgen of these songs - I know you will recognize them. They are my favorites right now...
Nocturne No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 9 - Chopin.
I am currently learning this song on the piano. It reminds me of Summer evenings. Hopefully I will master it so I can play it with the windows open at dusk some night.
Clair de Lune - Debussey.
I have loved this song since I was little...so pretty. I also found an operatic version of Clair de Lune that is Heaven.
I know...OperaBabes? Really? Trust me, it's great.
Chi il bel sogno di Doretta from La Rondine - the version I have is sung by Kiri Te Kanawa.
THIS song. This beautiful, glorious song...it brought tears to my eyes. Have you seen 'A Room With A View'? Of course you have. Remember the lovely scene when Lucy comes upon George in a barley field? And when he sees her he comes over and kisses her? Such passion! Such forbidden love! This is the song that accompanies that wonderful scene.

I too love classical music, not so much opera though. I love musical theater, but I never made the jump to opera. My girls listen to the classics everyday, usually accompanied with dress ups and dancing.
I've known you for how long?
Dude, that Room With a View Song . . . gives me wigglies every time!
You heard me!
Love the classics! Love opera----and that is one of my favorite pieces----in Room With A View...
I actually trained in Opera in college---but didn't want to give up my "band" and "musical" sound.
Julia!
Congrats on selling your house! I know that things with the park went south when I got sick, but I'm better now, and if you would like to go sometime soon let me know. I realize you have a million things to do, so whenever is fine. I would love to help you pack, just let me know. As for classical music, the memories! Mr. Allred, Disneyland, New York, loved it!
